Introduction to the DEC Trust

Our Mission

The DEC Trust aims to increase investment and opportunity in Southend’s economy and society through the use of digital technologies.

As a registered charity, we act as a catalyst for change. Bringing together business, entrepreneurs, the arts, academic research and the public sector to focus on exploring opportunities for cultural, social and economic development in the local area.

What will this mean for the local area?

  • Sustainable Economic Growth and Innovation: The DEC Trust aims to support the Southend Borough in developing clear strategies to support the growth of digital technologies which will bring wider benefits to society.
  • Education:  We will explore the role that digital media and connectivity can play in supporting educational outcomes in the Borough.
  • Socio-economic and related digital exclusion issues: A key issue for the area is how to tackle digital exclusion. Our work aims to support addressing this issue.

How are we funded?

Our ambition is that the wider work of the DEC Trust, undertaken through collaborative projects, will attract support funding from a broad range of sources. Moving forward we aim to develop work streams which include a number of income generating activities.
